Lawnbrook Estate, better known as The Packing Shed at Lawnbrook, is a beautiful 10 acre property located in the heart of the Bickley Valley which was established in 1896 by ACR Loaring (formerly of Margaret River).
The land was originally developed as an orchard for citrus fruit due to the high subsoil water supply and over the years, was also used to farm daffodils and strawberries. Lawnbrook was eventually divided up into smaller acreage and the citrus trees were removed and replaced with just over an acre of grapevines in the mid 1980s.
In 1999, we married in Kalamunda and held our wedding reception at a little known venue with rustic charm known as The Packing Shed. In 2014, Lawnbrook Estate finally went up for sale and taking the leap, we moved here in August of 2014. In February 2017, The Packing Shed @ Lawnbrook was reopened but in 2020, the world changed and our business had to as well.
The Packing Shed Distilling Co was a COVID baby; an idea born out of the pandemic. While we sat twiddling our thumbs and wondering what direction to take an idea began to take shape. By the end of 2020 after 9 months of applications, paperwork, emails and meetings we were approved as a distillery.
